The Arborist Project

So, this is a partial view of our backyard.

Not much color as it's barely March, but lots of green trees.  It's the Pacific Northwest. We're always green.

But...  all is not what it seems.  No.  Oh no. That smaller tree in the middle?

It's our Christmas tree. You know, the one that normal people put out by the curb after Christmas for the Boy Scouts to pick up and dispose of?  Yeah, not us.  Usually, when I'm putting the Christmas decorations away, I just sort of shove the tree out on the patio and let Joel take it apart from the stand when he's ready.

That didn't happen.

No... instead, he put the whole tree out behind the rock so it would look like we had another tree.  The thing is, we expected it to turn brown weeks ago.  It's been in that tree stand for 10 weeks!! And while it's not AS green as the rest of the trees, it's still remarkably green.  So, he's taken it into his head that he's going to preserve it forever!

He was out there this weekend, putting fertilizer in the tree stand so it would have food to eat. I wish I was making this up.

I will keep you updated.

  4. One of my favorite blog posts ever.... I've pondered trying to do something similiar in the past, but with the cold and freezing weather in MN the tree just gets dried out. Maybe I should try keeping it in the basement next year?
