Do You Pinterest?

Do you Pinterest?

When it first came out, I didn't really "get" it. I'm not an artist or a photographer or a scrapbooker, and I wasn't sure why on earth I would want to save a bunch of pictures.  After all, I know how to Right-Click-Save, don't I? But, over time and tweaking how it worked best for me, I've grown to love it and end up visiting a couple times a day.

I've begun to notice that there are certain things I'm really drawn to. To name a few....

1. Quotes and Sayings. I have a lot of these. Like... a lot.  So many that I had to split my "Quotes" board into 10 different topic areas, and some of them are still topping 200+ pins and climbing.  I just love them. I don't know what it is about quotes that I like. Short snippets that speak some truth to my heart. A quick moment that says someone understands the emotion inside. Something that makes me nod and whisper, "Yes. That."

2. Abandoned Buildings. I love pictures of abandoned places. They are so sad, but yet so interesting. I think of what it would be like to go there, to walk the halls and wander through the rooms in respectful silence, breath held. To think of the lives that were lived out within the walls once upon a time... and yet now the places hold nothing but ghosts and old memories. There is something terribly romantic in all that.

3. Doorways and Paths into the Unknown. Where do they lead?  No one knows.  And that's what I love about them. The mystery of what lies ahead.  Do you take this door? Do you choose to walk down its path? What could lie through it? What could lie along it? What hardships, what blessings, what gifts, what obstacles, what dragons, what castles? I think they just speak to my love of the POSSIBLE. When you first step out along the path or through the door, anything is possible. And that's beautiful.

4. Bare emotion. Anything that makes me feel what the subject seems to be feeling? I love that. I love a photo that makes me want to write what she might be going through, find the situation that would bring a person to being in that place. I want to explore why they're there and taste their emotions.

How about you?  What do your pins say about you?

  1. I must say I'm still trying to understand how to use it properly but I do find myself swooning over white kitchens and outside dining!

    1. lol It took me awhile to get it down... and I'm always changing how I use it. But I guess there's no set rules or anything, so it's all good. :)

  3. I think I mostly pin words as well. Also, bookish things, small cozy rooms, and lots of repurposing projects. I like the idea of making old things new.
